If you have ever watched HGTV (Home & Garden TV for you youngsters), the keys for Christ Construction are shown on every project. It really mirrors life a lot closer then we think.
Maybe an unwise decision you made brought you “here”. It could’ve been a natural disaster that brought you “here”. The old path was just not sitting right and you just need to chart a new path that lead you “here”. Or… a tragic and uncontrollable event that landed you “here”… “Here”, the place you are now and desperately seeking answers on the next step. Well take a moment and think of your life as a yard. A yard now riddled with up rooted trees, choppy-churned up grass, and a barely recognizable-broken walk way.
Remember God’s promise.
“Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with lapis lazuli.”
Life brings us many storms and it can feel unsettling when you find yourself “here”. However, when we make a commitment to follow Jesus… we allow God to start a process in us where He can rebuild our lives from those storms. Be mindful, it’s never easy, it takes dedication each day to lay solid foundations. These foundations allow God to begin those changes in us.
Start with the simple tools. Faith is your shovel, helping you dig-in and remove unwanted or unnecessary things. Your wheelbarrow is Grace, relocating the damaged pieces and helping you usher in new pieces of what will become your renewed life. Yes, this process will be a very slow, hard, and tiring at times. Especially when the sun or “sin” is baring down on you constantly. This is why you need a daily break to drink the replenishing water of the Bible.
Sure, a backhoe or excavator would certainly speed this along. Well… you have one. The excavator in your life, you guessed it, are the blessings He gives you in any given season. God aka “The Master Contractor”, will break up those rocky foundations and provide the blueprints to redesigning our lives. Just like your yard in a contractors hands, He will pull in all factors of the yard you have to work with… Guaranteed, you will have to sacrifice and give up things you once held as important to create the new masterpiece. Also…as you plan, plant, and lay your smooth new slabs or pour the cement… the direction of your newly made path starts being revealed.
No short cuts… Taking the easy path will just make everything look good on the surface, but without the proper foundations… eventually the foundations would sink and ruin all the work that has been done.
Allow me to leave you with this...
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
Meaning…God does not rebuild us with the same old stones. So those same old “habits” will be replaced with brand new habits. Habits that will improve us and show off His Will as it relates to your life. So… Let those precious stones shine bright and remember… word of mouth is still the best referral, so pass His contact info on to a friend! Tell them about His. Grace. Transformation. & Vision.(HGTV)
