Looking Beyond…

Sure we are all getting older and maybe your body doesn’t work like others, but your soul… your essences… your actions and reactions speak louder then you think. When people see you smile in the mist of chaos, attempt something that is perceived as the impossible, or choose to educate people instead of yelling back at them… that changes their hearts, moves their soul, and can create an impact ripple that can literally change the world.

In essence, be more joyful and less resentful...

My life experience has taught me that painful memories are more intense than pleasure memories. The process of loosing my legs has to be the one the most painful set of events I have ever experienced. From the very beginning though, I heard HIM, so never doubted that the pain I was going through was not for nothing. I realize that not everyone can see this POV, especially in the moment. Often it can also overwhelming, steal your cheerful thoughts, and leave someone in a drastic state of depression.

Remember how Peter Pan wanted Wendy to think of happy thoughts, so she could fly. God is asking the same. Allowing your mind to fixate on all the great blessings God has granted you, you will undoubtedly sore high and be lifted out of any emotional pit your in currently.

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”

James 1:2-4 NLT

The Bible teaches us to love, forgive, and to be optimistic. It’s the optimism that keeps you grinning when “Rome is burning” or your situation is turning for the worst. From believing in the defeat of your enemies, even in mist of you loosing at the moment… to overcoming unimaginable pain and suffering to build you stronger. Is it really that hard to wrap your mind around? After all HE was nailed to a cross, unbearable pain, check. Then HE forgave us for all past and future sins of mankind, in order to assure we have a seat in heaven if we so choose to let our Father in to our hearts. Even in that moment of death, the grim reaper may look like he’s winning. The fact is, the death of a Follower only means that your spirit has now fled into the home and outstretched arms of Christ. The grave is nothing more then a resting place for your body…

Now that you know the end, back track to your current place in the timeline and just ponder on the mighty work Christ has done on behalf of you. Have you started to rejoice? Even in the daily pains I have, I rejoice in those moments, choosing to look beyond… the affliction.
