The Thief Mentality

April 10, 2017 and all the events that followed…changed my whole perspective on life… While my radio career/co-ownership at Canopy, Innovation Nation NC (my nonprofit), family, girlfriend, friends, and relationship with HIM was not perfect… it was growing and I was happy. To me this meant, “I must be doing what HE – wants – ”. Slowly over the course of the first month I spent at Duke Hospital, I realized I had been looking at this all wrong.

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

John 10:10 NLT

You may even think God wants your time, your fun, or your money. You may even have missed seasons in your life trying to hide those little guilty pleasures because you didn’t want HIM ruining your fun. Let’s remember and take to heart who steals or wants…. the thief. See in the latter part of this verse Jesus uses the word give…

A career that takes way too much time away from you and your family. That social media “glance” that lasts 2 hours and isolates you from face to face communication with others and your Father. The whispering echoes of your past saying, “you’re still not good enough for HIM”. Whatever it is for you, that’s your thief.

Almost 2 years ago, now, my mobility changed. I truly believe it’s temporary, but what I gained… rather… what HE gave me, was a bigger perspective on life and that will be permanent…

God has no interested in taking anything away from you. It’s so easy for all of us to think that “God wants something from us”… opposed to the truth… “God wants something for us”.
