are just a fraction of a fraction of the distractions blocking you from reaching your true life. I’m not going to bore you with thee endless list of things that could slow you down, instead I will share with you the things I do to conquer distractions. Allowing me to dive deeper in the much needed connection with HIM.
We all have “actions”, some are reactive, like waking up or switching tasks when the alarm on your phone goes off. Could even be simpler, like answering your phone when it rings or vibrates. Other “actions” are proactive, like ironing and setting out your clothes for work or activity for the next day. Being proactive keeps the end point or finish in mind. I know I have therapy in the morning, so I set out my dri-fit outfit and athletic shoes. Knowing that I need something breathable and loose to accomplish the goal I have for the session. Same applies with getting closer to HIM. Want to speak to HIM on a consistent basis? I have Alexa set to read a bible verse at 6:10am daily and I follow that up with a lesson plan in YouVersion. Finally, I go down in prayer. These actions allow me to be proactive about my day. A day that will be used to do HIS will… A will that requires me to be in constant contact to get HIS instructions for the day. See I block out a time to do an action that will lead me to make more actions, better actions…I didn’t just wait and re-act, I created a habit that allows me to only focus on receiving the correct answer for any situation. An answer that comes from HIM, which grants me the ability to stay in contact on a constant basis.
Time is also a distraction. “I will do it later” or “first thing in the morning”…. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes being tired is a perfect reason to delay actions… you never want to do anything HE has directed you to do half-baked. Unfortunately, “time” in the instance we are discussing is paired with its first-rate favorite fuel… FEAR. Don’t feed fear by delaying actions you know you need to take. I get it though, some of us fear failure. “Why start something right away, I could fail?” That’s just it… you become paralyzed, pun intended, in your delay to the point that it never gets started. Stop the delay, have faith – “For God sake”… right?!? RIGHT! It’s HIS will, just do it. Life is indeed hard, even Christian life can be taxing. Know this…It can either be difficult because you’ve decided to do the extremely hard, but right choices. Or it can be strenuous because you’ve spent all your energy avoiding trials and placing decisions in the hands of others. This clarity came when I read this verse, which is actually a great segue into my last point.
“So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision - you'll see it yet! Now that we're on the right track, let's stay on it. Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal.”
